Adam Internet is now providing all Adam Internet customers with secured POP3, IMAP and SMTP email services.* Securemail is the perfect email solution for customers using roaming devices, such as laptops and mobile phones.

Secure SMTP allows for authenticated connections, which enable customers to send email via securemail.adam.com.au even while connected to a non-Adam Internet IP address.**

Why is securemail so important for those sending email on the go? When using a laptop and an email client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook, you are able to access and send email from an Adam Internet account via an Adam Internet connection. However, if you visit a cafe with wireless Internet via a non-Adam Internet service provider, you would still have access to your email account but would be unable to send email unless you adjust a range of client settings.

Now, with securemail, you can send email from your favourite wi-fi enabled cafe, or while waiting at the airport, or from any other location worldwide, and without the hassle of changing the client settings every time you change location.

For the technically minded, securemail.adam.com.au will now accept SSL connections on the following standard secure TCP Ports:

Secure POP3
Server Name: securemail.adam.com.au
Security: SSL
Port: 995

Secure IMAP
Server Name: securemail.adam.com.au
Security: SSL
Port: 993

Secure SMTP
Server Name: securemail.adam.com.au
Security: SSL
Port: 465

In addition to the new securemail service, we would also like to announce that access to "@adam.com.au" email accounts via IMAP is now available. With IMAP, your emails will remain on the Adam Internet mail servers as opposed to being downloaded directly to your computer, as happens when using POP3 settings. IMAP can be used as an alternative to the http://webmail.adam.com.au interface if you prefer to use a mail client such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Outlook Express, but still want the convenience of having your email stored on Adam Internet's mail servers. IMAP also increases the capabilities of anyone who wants to access their Adam Internet email through mobile devices such as Blackberries and mobile phones, which may support this feature.***

Standard email storage quotas still apply.

Server Name: mail.adam.com.au

* securemail.adam.com.au configurations are considered advanced settings and are not necessary for regular email use.

** Authenticated SMTP requires a username and domain, for example "username@adam.com.au". securemail.adam.com.au via SMTP will function without authentication if connected to an Adam Internet IP address.

*** Mobile phones connecting to the Internet via a non-home Internet connection / wireless modem / router may be subject to additional fees as charged by the mobile service carrier.
