Netcomm NB16WV Wizard Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through setting up the Netcomm NB16WV modem router to get access to the Internet. Because this unit has a Setup Wizard, it will also configure Wireless LAN at the same time. If you wish to use VoIP or Fetchtv on this unit, they must be configured separately, these optional steps are shown at the end of the guide.

Configuring the Modem

  1. To start, open an internet browser window (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.). The page will not finish loading, this is normal as we are not connected to the Internet yet.

  2. At the top of the browser window is the address bar, this may currently contain a website address such as:

    http://www.websitename.com.au

    Delete this address entirely and type in the following number:

    192.168.1.1

    Press Enter on the keyboard.

  3. modem's login page will appear requesting a username and password. This is the router username and password and is not to be confused with your Adam username and password.

    Enter the username admin and the password admin and click Login.

  4. Once logged in, the First-Time Setup Wizard prompt will be displayed.

    Click on Yes, let's get started with the wizard.

  5. On Step 1, enter in the following settings:

    1. WAN Interface: ADSL
    2. WAN Type: PPP over Ethernet
    3. Username: yourusername@adam.com.au
    4. Password: your Adam password
    5. VPI: 8
    6. VCI: 35
    7. Enable automatic 3G backup: optional, tick if you have a 3G dongle you wish to use

  6. Click Next.
  7. On Step 2, enter in the following settings:

    1. Wireless (WiFi): On
    2. SSID Broadcast: Enable
    3. SSID Broadcast Name: choose a network name

  8. Click Next.
  9. On Step 3, enter in the following settings:

    1. Security Key Type: WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK
    2. Security Key: your wireless password
    3. WPA Algorithm: TKIP

  10. On Step 4, you can change the password of your modem if you wish. We will skip this step.

    Be Careful! Should you wish to change your modems password, please ensure that you are able to recall the updated password should you require support.

  11. Click Next.
  12. On Step 5 you will see a summary of your settings:

  13. Click Finish. The modem will save and reboot, wait 3 minutes before making any further settings changes.
