PINE AVENUE

With the rapid expansion of the club during the late 1980's and early 1990's leading to increased pressure on already limited facilities, Hahndorf began construction on its own home base above the Town Oval on Pine Ave in late 1992.
Previous to this, the younger teams had played their home games at St Michael's Primary School Oval on Thiele Grove, and the older age groups shared the town oval with the Hahndorf Football Club.

The debut of the Senior sides in 1995 required the use of a full size ground dedicated to soccer, a facility that previously had not existed in the town.

While a lot has been achieved in the establishment of the Pine Ave ground, it's development is a costly ongoing and long-term project.

Without major fundraising and an increase in volunteer help and support from within the club, the ground will never reach it's potential.

During the 2001/02 close season extensive drainage work was carried out on the pitch, with more than twenty new drainage channels installed. This improved the condition of the ground for 2002 but let the ground rough and uneven.

The 2002/03 off-season saw further work undertaken on the surface, with a 400 tone top dress being carried out.

Rob Kilpatrick returned in the role of Grounds-Keeper in 2004 and his continued dedication and the hard work from previous years and has begun to pay off, 2004 seeing a dramatic improvement in the quality of the playing surface and Pine Avenue is now generally regarded as the best drained pitch in the Hills.

In 2005 Finch Cowlam oversaw a major refit of the canteen and at the close of the 2006 season the club intends to further extend the spectator shelter on both sides of the pitch.

There are big plans being developed by the club for the future upgrade of facilities at Pine Avenue; new change-rooms , the upgrading of electricity for floodlighting, extensions to the supporters sheds adjacent to the pitch, the development of a children's playground and a new junior pitch/training area are all in the pipeline.

Please get behind the Club as fundraise to achieve these goals.
