Review: Cattle Talk by The Saddle Bandits

Finally, the long awaited new album from little known country music outfit “The Saddle Bandits” has been released.

An initial listen has left me with mixed feelings, and I don't think Cattle Talk will go down as a classic such as previous albums You Don't Need Handlebars on your Saddle and Give Your Horse its Head.

Still, there are a number of interesting tracks.

The album begins with fun poking ballad “Horses are People Too (but not for marryin')”.

Skip track 2 (the forgettable “I'm in Love with my Sister”) and you come to “The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round (the Stoned Cowboy)” — for my money the best Saddle Bandit track.

Unfortunately the album degrades from there, with sadly laughable “I'm a Gangsta Cowboy Wiggida What!” scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The final track (“Love Your Horse, but don't Take Her Home to Meet your Mama [Horses are People Too remix]”) adds some much needed zest, but by then it is unfortunately too late.
