Billion 6404VGP R3 Login/VoIP/Wireless Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through setting up the Billion 6404VGP R3 router to get access to the Internet.

Because this unit has a Setup Wizard, it will also configure Wireless LAN and VoIP at the same time.

Areas of this guide:

Configuring the Router

  1. To start, open an internet browser window (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.). The page will not finish loading, this is normal as we are not connected to the Internet yet.

  2. At the top of the browser window is the address bar, this may currently contain a website address such as:

    http://www.websitename.com.au

    Delete this address entirely and type in the following number:

    192.168.1.254

    Press Enter on the keyboard.

  3. A login prompt will be displayed requesting a username and password. This is the router username and password and is not to be confused with your Adam Internet username and password.

    Enter the username admin and the password admin. Click OK.

  4. Once the browser has logged in, the router status page will be displayed. This page contains information about the router and connection such as firmware version and connection speeds.

    On the left hand menu, Click on Quick Start.

  5. On the WAN page of the Quick Start menu, enter in the following settings:
    1. Profile Port: EWAN
    2. Device Type: VoIP Router
    3. WAN Type: PPPoE
    4. Username: yourusername@adam.com.au (all lowercase)
    5. Password: your Adam password (all lowercase)
    6. Service Name: Adam

  6. Leave all other settings as per default and click Apply.
  7. On the Wireless page of the Quick Start menu, enter the following settings:
    1. WLAN Service: Enable
    2. ESSID: choose a network name, e.g. My Wireless
    3. ESSID Broadcast: Enable
    4. Channel ID: Auto
    5. Security Mode: WPA2-PSK
    6. WPA Shared Key: choose a strong passphrase (minimum 8 characters)

  8. Leave all other settings as per default and click Apply.
  9. On the VoIP page of the Quick Start menu, enter the following settings under Phone Port 1:
    1. SIP Service Provider: Manual
    2. Phone Number: Your VoIP phone number (e.g.08xxxxxxxx)
    3. Username: Your VoIP phone number (e.g.08xxxxxxxx)
    4. Password: your Adam VoIP password
    5. Display Name: Your VoIP phone number (e.g.08xxxxxxxx)
    6. Registrar Address (or Hostname): sip.sa.adam.com.au
    7. User Domain/Realm: sip.adam.com.au
    8. Outbound Proxy Address: sip.sa.adam.com.au

  10. Leave all other settings as per default and click Apply.
  11. On the left hand menu, click Advanced then click Configuration > VoIP > Phone Port.
  12. Under the Codec Preference heading, change the priority levels to the following order:
    1. Priority 1: PCMA (G.711 A-Law)
    2. Priority 2: G.729
    3. Priority 3: PCMU (G.711 u-Law)
    4. Priority 4: Non-used
    5. DTMF Method: Inband
  13. Leave all other settings as per default and click Apply.
  14. To save the settings, click Save Config on the bottom of the screen and then click Apply to confirm.

Optimising the Quality of Service (QoS) Setting for AdamTalk

  1. To start, open an internet browser window (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.). The page will not finish loading, this is normal as we are not connected to the Internet yet.

  2. At the top of the browser window is the address bar, this may currently contain a website address such as:

    http://www.websitename.com.au

    Delete this address entirely and type in the following number:

    192.168.1.254

    On the left hand menu, Click on Advanced.

  5. Now select Configuration from left hand menu.

  6. Now select QoS from left hand menu.

  7. Finally select Prioritization from left hand menu.

  8. You are now presented with a page to enter in a new QoS configuration. Enter the following settings:
    1. Name: VoIP
    2. Priority: High
    3. Source IP Address Range: 0.0.0.0 ~ 0.0.0.0
    4. Destination IP Address Range: 202.136.98.185 ~ 202.136.98.185
    5. DSCP Marking: Best Effort
    6. Time Schedule: Always On
    7. Protocol: any
    8. Source Port: 0 ~ 0
    9. Destination Port: 0 ~ 0

    The press the Add button.

  9. To save the settings, click Save Config on the bottom of the screen and then click Apply to confirm.

Adjusting Microphone and Speaker Volume for AdamTalk

  6. Now select VoIP from left hand menu.

  7. Finally select Phone Port from left hand menu.

  8. Then click the Volume Control link.

  9. Reduce both the Microphone and Speaker volumes to a minimum by clicking the - button for each.

    Then click the Return link and the Apply button.

  10. To save the settings, click Save Config on the bottom of the screen and then click Apply to confirm.
