Being Greater/Grater than Alexander
I saw this sign at work for a seminar on “wellness” entitled “What I don’t like about me”.
I thought: wow, self inspection, what a novel idea. Who would have thought you could think about yourself in terms of likes and dislikes? It takes forums like this to bring that sort of thing to our attention.
So I decided that what I don’t like about me is that I’m so good at everything I’m disappointed that I’m not great at anything.
Then I remembered there was a guy in history called Alexander the Great. He was great (his name says so) but he couldn’t even play croquet or hotwire a car.
I can’t play croquet or hotwire a car either, so he’s only as great as me.
Therefore: Me = Alexander the Great = warlord = big sword.
Self esteem is easy when you can make up and believe in delusions and improbable connections. They should call those work seminars, “How to delude yourself”.
