First Update from the Bash! 14 Aug 2007
The Variety Bash kicked off on Saturday morning, with the departure from Mt. Gambier followed by nearly three whole days of non-top driving – with a few celebrations and merry-making thrown in along the way. Unfortunately, our coverage hasn’t been as frequent as we’d have liked though, thanks to a near legacy-like satellite phone. It’s impossible to call while driving, cannot send SMS but can receive them and has no caller ID making it impossible to respond to calls.

From what has been reported to us here at the office, they’ve been making their way down many red dirt tracks and the country is beautiful. The rest stops each evening are proving to be a laugh, with the Adams Family crew finding strong allies with the ARMY team and Borat. They’ve been up to a little mischief already and its still early days yet!

Tonight, Greg, Scott, Rebecca and Roger are being joined by Mark as he flies to Menindee to meet them and join on the bash. Mark’s arrival will be just in time to prepare for an Adams Family Fun Stop tomorrow morning, where they’ll be stopping by a cemetery for some tea, biscuits and bats wing broth as they make their way toward Nulla Station.

We’ll keep you up to date!

Oh, forgot to mention that Adam Internet was lucky enough to receive a generous donation from Nationwide Stationers of more than 6 kilograms of lollies to be handed to children on the Bash. Thank you for your support! Those Minties and fruit chews will most definitely be appreciated.
