| Heavy Downpour May Affect Phone Lines | 19 Mar 2003 |
|---|---|
Whenever we experience a heavy downpour after a long dry period like today, we get many calls from customers experiencing unusual disconnection problems. This is frequently caused by dampness seeping into the underground phone pits and interfering with the connection points. You may not notice a difference in the quality of your phone connection when you make a voice call, however, as a data call requires a more stable connection, any minor fault on the line many cause problems. If you find your own connection becomes unreliable after this rainy period, and if nothing has been changed in your dial up settings, software or hardware configurations, it is safe to assume that water in the lines is causing the problem. In this case you need to report the fault to Telstra on 13 22 03 |
