Subscription
We welcome you to come to one or two of our meetings to "try us out" and see if we meet your needs. After this most people are keen to subscribe to Birth Matters to receive the quarterly newsletter and keep reminded of our regular meetings, seminars and other events and news. Subscription entitles you to:
- receive our quarterly newsletter of around 30 pages packed with information (see information further down this page);
- borrow books, birth DVDs and videos from our extensive library ;
- join our email list to receive regular reminders of meetings, events, and new information or news articles on pregnancy and birth which comes through our extensive network of contacts throughout Australia and the world.
Subscription costs are very reasonably set at:
- 12 months - $20 (or $15 concession)
- 24 months - $35 (or $25 concession)
- 36 months - $50 (or $35 concession)
You can subscribe when you come along to one of our regular meetings or by sending a completed subscription form by post or email. See the subscription form for instructions on how to do this, or contact us for further help.
Subscription monies enable us to print and distribute the newsletter to members and to provide some free-of-cost copies to maternity services and clinics, to print birth information sheets, to pay stall fees for public events such as the Baby and Parent Expo and Womadelaide where we publicise the Birth Matters group, and to purchase new books and DVDs for our lending library.
Newsletter
We produce a quarterly newsletter for those who subscribe to Birth Matters. It is usually around 30 pages long and is filled with media articles, birth stories, articles on recent medical research, profiles of community midwives, articles about various subjects & therapies related to birth and pregnancy, the latest statistics on birth outcomes and interventions in South Australian hospitals and homes, and other matters of interest. There is also a resources section listing contact details of maternity-led services in South Australia, of independent/private/community midwives and of other practitioners supportive of woman-centred maternity care.
